A truly exceptional 17th century French pétrin, this piece was originally used in a provincial boulangerie for mixing, fermenting, and storing the household’s daily bread dough. Its rare form—with a beautifully angled grain-bin body, original lift-top lid, and hand-carved apron—reflects the craftsmanship of early rural France, where every piece of furniture served both functional and domestic purposes.

Crafted entirely from solid French oak, it retains its original warm, time-softened patina. The weathered plank top, exposed dovetail joinery, and centuries of natural wear bring authenticity impossible to replicate. The three-drawer base features hand-carved diamond motifs and early brass pulls, all resting on elegant tapered legs that have survived remarkably intact. Measuring 52 inches long x 27 inches wide x 32 inches high, this pétrin combines history with versatility.

Once a working vessel for dough preparation, it now serves as an extraordinary entry console, kitchen island, sideboard, or statement piece. Its sculptural silhouette and soulful patina add instant history, texture, and French countryside charm to any room. A true one-of-one heirloom, collected, curated, and brought to the U.S. exclusively by Trouvaille Imports.
